DETROIT—What's better than ending a typical grey Michigan winter under the unicloud than sprucing up spring with a good, brisk run and more color than Vincent Van Gogh would know what to do with?
Welcome to Color Me Rad Detroit!
The run is focused on fun more than anything. Runners start in an all white outfit and as they run through their five kilometers, they get totally bombarded by fistfuls of bright-colored non-toxic cornstarch.
Runners of all abilities and athleticism are encouraged to attend, whether you train daily or haven't had your running shoes on in years. The only two rules are that you have wear white T-shirts to the run.
Color Me Rad will take place in more than 60 cities across the United States and will be painting Detroit's Riverfront on May 11, 2013 to benefit World AIDS Day Detroit. Registration costs $35 through Feb. 22, and you get a free pair of sunglasses and a sweet new T-shirt for your closet. Rates go up after that.
Sounds great, let's just hope it doesn't rain!
