Kevin Ransom is a veteran Detroit-area freelance journalist. Over the last 20-plus years, he's worked as an auto writer, business reporter, music critic, arts & entertainment reporter, environmental writer, general feature writer and general-assignment reporter.
He's written for such such newspapers, magazines and websites as The Detroit News, Guitar Player, AOL Autos, Rolling Stone, Musician, Adweek, the Ann Arbor News, AnnArbor.com, the Detroit Free Press, the Dallas Morning News, Detroit Monthly, Crain's Detroit Business, New Car Test Drive, Middle East Car, Creative Loafing, Ford World, Mercedes Connect and many others.
Ransom is a Dearborn native, and over the years, also lived in Wyandotte, Grosse Pointe Park, Royal Oak, Trenton and Rochester Hills, before moving back to Dearborn in 2001. Says Ransom: "I'm like David Byrne -- I've lived all over this town."
Ransom enjoys bicycling, roots-rock, historic houses, classic cinema, Greenfield Village, and walking the nature trails at Lower Huron Metropark, the Arboretum in Ann Arbor and the Environmental Study Area at U-M Dearborn, among other locales. He also has an abiding interest in political and social issues.
